The check reads your business the way a search engine or an AI assistant reads it: from outside, using only what is publicly available. Nothing is installed, no account is connected, and nothing you type about yourself is accepted as a measurement — which is what makes the result independent.
Those four are combined into a single Authority Rating from 0 to 100, with the highest-priority actions behind it. What is deliberately not measured: the internal ranking logic of any AI system, which nobody outside those companies can see, and any promise about rankings, citations or traffic.
The reading considers the assistants and answer surfaces people are actually using to ask buying questions — ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Grok and Google AI Overviews — alongside conventional search retrieval, because ranking still feeds what these systems can find. Prompts are run against those surfaces to record whether your business is named, and how it is described when it is.
What that does not amount to is a claim about how any of them decide. Each system uses its own retrieval and generation methods, none of which is published in a form anyone outside can verify. OG01 measures the observable conditions and reports what came back, rather than offering a theory about the model.

Some sites refuse automated requests — a firewall rule, a bot-protection service, an aggressive edge configuration. When OG01 cannot fetch your pages it returns Not Rated rather than a low score, because a number manufactured from a reading that never arrived is worse than no number at all.
Not Rated means the scan could not support a rating. Review the explanation and any measurements returned before changing your site. A connection error is different: it means the request did not complete, not that your website received a low score or blocked AI crawlers.
No. Almost everything the check measures is a condition you can change: entity records, structured data, the form and substance of your content, corroboration from sources other than you, and stale information circulating elsewhere. A low rating is a starting position, not a verdict on the business.
What it is not is self-correcting. The way to know whether work moved the number is to measure the same conditions again with the same method after the changes have been recrawled — which is what rescoring is for, and why OG01 reports a before and after rather than an assurance.
